Examining the Victor Reader Trek

In this podcasts, the Tech Doctors sit down with Deborah Kendrick to examine the
Victor Reader Trek
From Humanware.

Be sure to read Deborah’s
Review of the Trek
In the May 2018 AccessWorld Magazine from The American Foundation for the Blind.

The Trek which is about the same size as the Victor Reader Stream contains all of the features of the Stream as well as a very easy-to-use but quite sophisticated GPS-based orientation system. It comes with the maps already installed and aside from the fact that it takes awhile for the GPS to get its first satellite fix, getting going with GPS couldn’t be easier.

Humanware stuck to its tried and true VR Stream interface for both reading and navigation. Anybody who has used a Stream will feel very at home with this product.

The Trek is a fabulous alternative for anyone who is not comfortable with a touch-screen device like the iPhone. Some will even want it as a second device even if they primarily use a smartphone for reading, podcasts listening, internet radio and GPS orientation. The Trek handles all of these very well. Downloads are slower than they are on the iPhone but they are done in the background and don’t seem to interfere with whatever else the Trek is doing.

Robert and Deborah are both impressed with how much fun the Trek is to use. Allison is thinking that she will stick with her phone for now.

The Tech Doctors hope you enjoy this discussion and they thank Deborah for sharing her expertise with all of us.
